Since joining Jacobszoon and Associates, Inc. in 2020, Shane has become a forest analyst focusing on sustainable timber harvest management, forest ecosystem restoration, fuels reduction and regulatory compliance. While attending HSU Shane received his fire fighter two training and participated on a prescribed burn in Nebraska to restore grass land and remove encroaching ponderosa pines. Principal projects Shane has assisted on include preparations of Timber Harvest Plans, Cal Fire fuel reduction exemptions (1038), hazard assessments, and GIS mapping. He has participated in NSO surveys, stand typing assessments, and carbon verification projects.
Prior to working for Jacobszoon and Associates Shane gained experience working as a forestry technician for an industrial timberland owner and consultant in Humboldt County. Shane has an extensive background in construction as well. He is currently working on obtaining his registered professional forester's license (RPF) and becoming a certified arborist. Shane has participated in Carbon Cruise verification projects throughout the country. Some of his daily tasks include Timber Harvest Plan preparation, forest inventory cruise for small land owners, THP layout, tree marking, archeology surveys, forest road layout, and identifying hazard trees in burned areas on Cal Trans projects.
Shane received his Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry from Humboldt State University.

- CAL-FIRE, certified to conduct archeological records checks, surveys, and to prescribe site protection for CAL-FIRE Projects.
