Biological and Botanical

Miles is a member of the Biological/Botanical Resource Management team at Jacobszoon and Associates. He conducts wetland delineations as well as biological assessments with clients to help them identify, avoid, and mitigate potential risks to sensitive habitats and sensitive species associated with their project. He also prepares environmental documents on behalf of clients for the SWRCB, California Department of Food and Agriculture, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife. These include Site Management Plans, Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreements, Small Irrigation Use Permits, Premise and Property Diagrams, and others as required by state and local policies and regulations.

Prior to joining Jacobszoon and Associates, Miles worked for Sonoma Water in Santa Rosa, CA as a Natural Resources Technician. His duties primarily involved collecting fisheries data to aid in the management of threatened and endangered species of salmonids in the Russian River watershed. He would also conduct surveys for nesting birds, pinnipeds, estuarine invertebrates, wetted habitat features, instream topography and hydrologic features. He has worked extensively on habitat enhancement and restoration projects in the Dry Creek watershed and provided support to the Russian River Coho Salmon Captive Broodstock Program at the Warm Springs Fish Hatchery in Geyserville, CA. He has also worked for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife doing invasive species removal in the Eastern Sierra and as a surveyor for the California Recreational Fisheries Survey.

Miles holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science/Ecological Restoration from Humboldt State University.
